IPL Auction 2021 Players List: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is to be auctioned in Chennai on February 18 at 3:00 pm (Indian time). The auction is starting a little late this time due to the Covid-19 epidemic. The auction for IPL 2020 was held on 19 December 2019. This time, 292 players will be bid in the auction. Out of these, only 61 players can be purchased. The batsmen will be auctioned first. After that the number of all-rounders and wicketkeepers will come. Let's go here the whole process related to auction.

There are 2 types of auctions in IPL, Mega and Mini. In either case, the players in the final list are divided according to capped, uncapped and overseas (foreign). Those players are placed in separate groups of batsmen, bowlers, wicketkeepers and all-rounders. During the auction, the auctioneer will call the players name along with the base price. The franchisee then starts the bidding by picking up the paddle at will. The player who makes the biggest bid is the franchisee. Unsold players sell only when the franchisee wishes to buy them again. This process takes place in the final stages of the auction. The last mega auction took place in the year 2018. Two more teams will join the IPL (Indian Premier League) next year. So the next mega auction will be in 2022.

In the mega auction, the franchise can retain a maximum of 5 players. All other players are included in the auction. Any franchisee can buy them. The franchisee can retain three players in the opening round and two players during the auction with a Right to Match card. Two foreigners may also be among the three players retained by the franchise. The franchise can also use the Right to Match (RTM) card to bring in players from the previous team. All franchisees have 2 Right to Match cards.

If 2 out of 3 retainers are foreigners in the opening round, then the franchise cannot include any foreign players in the squad with the Right to Match card. If 1 out of 3 retainer players is foreign, then franchisees can add 1 foreign player to the team with the Right to Match card.

In the mini auction, franchisees have to bid for the remaining players of the team. In this, the franchise can retain as many players as possible. The released players re-register themselves with the IPL Governing Council. In this, the shortlisted players are placed in different price slots.

The franchisees are required to submit to the IPL Governing Council a list of the retained players and the list of players removed from their squads within a stipulated time. The franchisee buys new players by combining the rupees from the players' salary cap and the money added by the IPL. Franchisees have to buy players keeping in mind the full strength of the squad.

Apart from this, teams also have the option of transfer window. Under this, players can change the franchise with mutual consent of both teams. Teams can trade in uncapped as well as capped players.

All franchisees can have a maximum of 25 and a minimum of 18 players in their team. There can be as many as 8 foreign players in any team. In the current situation, Royal Challengers Bangalore have the least 14 players and Sunrisers Hyderabad has the maximum 22 players. This means that RCB will have to buy at least 4 players in the auction. At the same time, SRH can buy as many as 3 players.

How is the right to match card used?

Through the Right to Match card, the franchisee can get his old player back in the auction. For this, they have to pay a price equal to the highest bid placed on the player in the auction. Suppose Rajasthan Royals did not retain Steve Smith this season. If any franchisee makes the biggest bid on him during the auction, Rajasthan can use the RTM card to bring him back to his team. Through this, the franchisee can retain a maximum of 5 players.

This is the budget of franchisees

In this season of IPL, the franchise's salary purse (budget) is 85 crore as the previous season. There is no increase in salary budget this time due to Corona. It was 80 crores in 2019 and 66 crores in 2018. This time Punjab has the highest amount of Rs 53.20 crore to buy players. According to the rules, the minimum expenditure of the team should be 60 crores i.e. 75% of the salary cap value.

Franchise members will have corona test twice

Corona test (RT-PCR) has to be done twice before the auction. The first test is to be conducted 72 hours before the auction and the second test after reaching the Grand Chola Hotel in Chennai. Members will get entry in the venue only after both the test reports are negative. 13 members from one franchisee will be able to be present in the auction. Of these, 8 will be seated on the auction table and 5 in the members' gallery.
